I’ve just been amending a contract and came across the following clause which sparked my interest:
“words importing any gender include every gender ….” [Emphasis added]
Such a clause would normally simply refer to “… both genders ..”.
Does this mean that there are now officially more than two genders, or is this just future-proofing?
I’ve got to admit, I’m more than a little confused – have I missed a memo??!!
I will happily embrace a multitude of genders – probably literally as well as figuratively – but I just need to know how many there are; my male – I assume male is still an official gender (?!) – brain finds it difficult to cope with uncertainty!!
